The Barnett Center is excited to welcome Dr. Kimberly Goodman, our next guest in the Life in the Arts Series!
Dr. Kimberlee Goodman holds degrees in flute performance from Arizona State University (BM) and The Ohio State University (MM and DMA). For 18 years, she served as a faculty member at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where she taught Flute, Music Theory, Ear Training, World Music, and courses for freshmen and seniors that incorporated music and musical experiences. A career highlight was being selected by the student body to deliver the Spring commencement address in 2014. During her tenure at Otterbein, Dr. Goodman founded Flute Choir Day, an event she directed for a decade. This initiative, which consistently attracted 50 participants annually, remains an enduring tradition. As a flutist she currently performs in PANdemonium4 Flute Quartet and as Principal Flutist of the Westerville Symphony.
In 2013, Dr. Goodman began transitioning her career toward Arts Administration. Her first roles included Event Planner and later Director of Development for the Jazz Arts Group in Columbus, Ohio. Notable accomplishments during her tenure included organizing two trips to Cuba and three trips to Vail for patrons, as well as overseeing the annual gala, “One Night Only,” which consistently raised over $100,000 for the organization.
In 2021, Dr. Goodman joined the McConnell Arts Center in Worthington, Ohio, as Director of Development. She was promoted to Interim Executive Director in 2023 and later named Executive Director, a position she holds today. Under her leadership, the organization’s operating budget grew from $750,000 to $1.2 million. She continues to lead trips to Cuba to engage donors and patrons and oversees a team of 12 staff members.
Outside of her professional achievements, Dr. Goodman finds immense joy in her family and travels. She is especially proud of her two nephews and niece. Alongside her husband, Jack, she has explored 17 countries and eagerly anticipates many more adventures. Dedicated to serving the arts, Dr. Goodman’s passion for music and travel continues to inspire her work and life.
