All are invited to an Open House for the Creatives @ the Barnett, a pilot program hosted by the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise during the 2023-24 academic year. The event takes place on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM EDT and is free and open to the public.
The Open House features 6 collaborative projects created by the 12 students within the program cohort. Cohort members – the “creatives” - were selected in the spring of 2023 by application from across the university and includes undergraduate students of varying majors nearing the end of their degree programs. To learn more about the cohort members and mentors, visit this page.
The cohort met weekly in a seminar format during autumn semester and twice per month during spring semester. The focus of the program has been integrated artistic expression, in which two creators with different creative foci collaborate to create a single creative expression.
Each pair of creatives was provided both with a modest budget and an experienced faculty mentor who themselves are collaborative creators. The resulting six projects explore themes of belonging, community, and/or home.
Visitors at the Open House will have the opportunity to witness the collaborative projects, engage in conversation with the creatives, and enjoy the company of others as part of the self-guided event.
The Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise is located on the first floor of Sullivant Hall (1813 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43210). The nearest university parking facility is the Ohio Union South Parking Garage. Guests should enter Sullivant Hall through the double doors that face High Street and follow wayfinding signs to the Barnett Center.
