The Barnett Center’s “A Life in the Arts” series welcomes practicing artists from the Columbus area to campus to share their insights for making a well-rounded, satisfying, and meaningful life in the arts. The initiative is designed to provide a transparent view of the lives of practicing artists in order to help our students more clearly see themselves as thriving artists here.
Topical explorations include entrepreneurial strategies and insights; finding studio space; collaboration with other artists; working outside the arts to facilitate creative/artistic energies; networking and communication; grant funding opportunities and strategies; opening/forming/sustaining a small business; work-life harmony; mental and emotional care as a practicing artist; health care; engagement with local community; and engaging state and regional arts resources.
