Creative Journey: I often feel as though I live more in my own mind than in the world around me. The act of creation is thus deeply grounding, as the physical sensations of clay between my fingers or the smell of oil paint as I create a piece tether my body to my mind.
Inspiration: Every artistic medium is subject to material constraints. A potter, for instance, can only use so much water on a piece before it collapses. As an artist, I derive the most inspiration from seeing how the mediums I work with, whether they be clay, paint, or metal, react when they are pushed past the norms of their use.
