Creative Journey: Long before I could conversate in English, I learned how to read the language. I remember Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal almost perfectly, how the words -finally!- came to life in my mind. Between bedtime stories, books, and PBS Kids I found myself enthralled with the idea of writing. Building worlds from scratch and watching them come to life between my fingers was incredible. In no time writing became the core of my soul.
What Inspires Me: If it weren't for my teachers, public resources, my immigrant mother's resilience, and community aid there's no way a girl like me would have traveled 1,871 miles to The Ohio State University. That's what inspires me, the strength that is built by uplifting our underserved communities and the people who work to empower the organizations that provide the building blocks for our community.
