Yifan is a PhD student in the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy at Ohio State University.  Her areas of interest include Cross-cultural encounters; cultural diplomacy; festivals and mega events; creative place making; cultural appropriation and adaptation.  Her previous research includes an MA in Arts Policy and Administration with a focus on music consumption comparisons between China and the United States and a BA in Cultural Industry Management with a focus on the influence of Chinese indie rock on sub-culture identities and music industry business models.  She also worked on a year-long collabotation at Tongii University exploring the 2010 Shanghai EXPO, receiving a "Best Ten Projects" award in 2012, and has presented her research at the Social Theory, Policy and the Arts Conference twice.

Yifan is also an accomplished artist, showcasing profiency in piano, Hulusi and Belly Dance, Traditional Chinese Dance and Jazz Dance.
