Gavin Newton is a first-year master's student studying trumpet performance from Zanesville, OH. He also holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Muskingum University. Through his work as both a freelance musician and private instructor, Gavin has enjoyed numerous opportunities to engage with Columbus and surrounding communities. Beyond ensemble performances at Ohio State, he is often performing with jazz ensemble, community bands/orchestras, and theaters pit orchestras. Gavin also has experience serving as a high school marching band staff member with numerous high school bands. Hailing from a long line of Buckeye Fans, Gavin is the first to attend Ohio State within his family, and could not be happier being a Buckeye.
